Covington Days and WW Exchange Program
I have not been good at posting this week. We are busy at work and I just haven't had the time. Even on my cellphone. Tonight I worked until 9 pm again tonight at Covington Days... another little community fair. These fairs are in the communities where some of the people would want to go to college at our college since it would be close to their home. Or they know someone that would benefit from the information. We try to collect applications as well right there at the booth. However, Covington Days isn't as well attended as other community fairs. We talk to about 100 people each year. Those at Renton River Days will probably talk to more people at the booth there.

Running Behind Schedule

I got home tonight around 9 pm and watched TV with Dave for a while. I was up early getting Riley up and to school. Then I went into the office until 12 noon. We quickly loaded up the van and took off to Renton to put up the booth at the Renton River Days. Two other staff members came at 2pm to work at the booth until 6 pm. Meanwhile, we went back to the college packed up the van again and went to another fair in Covington. We put up the booth and set up the table. We stayed there until 8pm and then returned the van. Whew...
I want to say Happy Birthday to my brother David who turned 43 on Wednesday. I tried calling but couldn't get him on the phone so I left a message.
I will try to catch up tomorrow. Have a good weekend!

This is the second year this conference has been in existence. Here are all the community college representatives that attended the conference this year. Can you find me? It is like "Where is Waldo?" We aren't goofing off here. See, we can act normal... for a moment.
The Recruitment and Outreach office is responsible for putting on Open Houses. On August 1st we are going to have our big community Open House called "Next Step". Today we took 15 of us to downtown Seattle to the Fisher Plaza to the filming of Northwest Afternoon. If we bring that many people we can, for FREE, put our announcement on TV about our event. Yes, that meant that we were on TV. Once of the PSA and also in the audience for the show. They would go into the audience to get our responses etc. Our PSA will be on tomorrow, and the show were we are the audience will be on next Tuesday. Afterwards we went to a Espresso Cafe, like good Seattlites, and got coffee and a sandwich. So, that was the first part of our day.
My responsibility is summer fairs... and we have 2... count them... 2 summer fairs this weekend. Tomorrow we put up one and then go put up the other one. I work until 9 pm tomorrow and work until 10 pm Saturday. Then on Sunday, we have to take the booths all down after shifts. So I will work all day that day too. I don't get Monday off... because of Next Step coming the next Friday.

Have a good evening!

Let's Talk... Not ;-); Happy Birthday David!
I am going to put off "Let's Talk" to share some pictures of our social at our conference.
Some of the guys with Ruthie. I put this photo up just for Ruthie to see first thing.
This is the gals and Rasad. I told him that I would post it and he would say "I Got Kids" meaning that his wife wouldn't take it as a joke. Darylynn should give his wife advise because she could. However, Rasad's wife is expecting their third child. I guess no one in their last trimester would take a joke.
We all work together in the Seattle area. Each of us is at different colleges doing the same job.

Vancouver continued
We continue today with our conference at the student union at Clark CC. We will finish around 2 pm. It is almost a 3 hour drive back to Seattle. Some people here are from Canada, Denver, and Oregon. So it isn't just us from WA. There is only 60 of us and this is when we network with those that do the same job.
We are now checked out of our hotel. I love staying in a hotel. I have had the pleasure to stay in 3 this spring and summer. I like watching cable too which we don't have at home at the moment.
Those of us that were out singing last night dragged in and all of us have a rough sounding voice.
Some will go shopping in Portland because there isn't any sales tax in Oregon. It is nice for big items or Christmas shopping.
Talk to you back in the Emerald city.

Vancouver, WA
Lindsey and I left for Vancouver Sunday night and arrived at the Red Lion on the Quay at around 9 pm. This morning we stopped at STARBUCKS on the way to our convention at Clark (named after the Clark in Lewis and Clark ;-) Community College. We had breakfast there, two sessions, lunch, four sessions, and then dinner. We went back for a social at the Red Lion. I don't usually have anything to drink but my personality doesn't need anything. Neither does my equals in college recruiting. We are all outgoing, love to be loud and the center of attention. You haven't heard anything yet until you are in a room of many people that love to be loud and talk like we do. After all, we get paid for being in front of people and talking. It is who we are. We don't need to drink. But some did and they got even louder.
After a while we decided to go sing kareoke. I have not done that in a long time. Usually Kari is around to sing with me but with this group, they will all sing with you. No one is alone. We sang a lot and one fun song we did as a group was
"Summer Nights" from "Grease". So we got back to the RL after midnight. I will be tired tomorrow and my throat hurts.
