The Good Ole Summer Time

Today Summer decided to show itself... it may have reached 90 degrees. Yep, even here in Seattle. I had the boys today and we stayed in until later in the afternoon. Then we all took a trip to Costco (where else?). Then it was back home again to make some dinner. The boys were able to get in their little pool on the deck to cool off. This was taken about 5 pm or later, which is the warmest time of the day here. The sun is up these days for about 15 - 16 hours. It doesn't set until after 9 pm and it isn't dark until after 10 pm. Then the sun is up around 5 am. Of course it is reversed in the winter. I have often wondered what it is like in Alaska at this time of year. They have sun all the time.

I find myself listening to all the complaining that comes when we get hot weather here but then try to "tune it out". Of course, it isn't anything like So California or Las Vegas... even Sacramento was warmer when we were there a couple of weeks ago. I decided that I wouldn't even "go there" complaining like everyone else. I am going to simply enjoy summer time and all the fun it brings. I would like to learn to like the winter as well. I find this the best time of the year. I hope you are having a good time!

Camping

Do you like to camp? Strangely, I do like to camp. Why do I say it that way? Well, there are some aspects of it that is rough (bathrooms not close, bugs buggin you sometimes all the time, and public showers) but all in all I like to get out to the lakes, rivers, and be with nature especially being indoors all the time during the winter months. The pictures in this post is at the KOA camp. Where? Well, it is actually downtown Sacramento. When we were there we spent one night in a tent and one night in a hotel. I was trying to cut costs because of the cost of gasoline. The hotel was ready for us hours before the wedding so we were able to rest, take showers, and get dressed for the wedding there rather than the campsite. You shoppers would have liked this camping adventure... we spent time that evening at a big mall only a few miles down the road from here. Mom needed to get some white shoes for the wedding and then we ate at the Hard Rock Cafe in Sacramento. Below is the view from inside the tent and then the bottom picture is suppose to show the river (more than the BBQ, but...).

Are you having a good week? The weekend is around the corner!

Let's Talk...

Let's Talk... What do you have to say about...

I was thinking the other day. I have a lot of questions that I wonder what others think. So I thought from time to time that I would put up a post titled "Let's Talk" so that I can hear from you about certain subjects that usually pertain to just us women. My first question is about skin care. Many of you are trying out different products and I was wondering if anything was really fabulous out there that you know of? I know Denise was using Olay. How does that work well?

I was cleaning out my cabinets and there is a variety of "stuff" I have bought and I didn't like any of it. So if you have any suggestions, please share.

Have a good day!

Pike's Market Revisited

The Famous Seattle Pike's Market Signs Above
Beautiful bouquets of flowers and "perfect" fruit and vegetables are sold there besides other things.

The fish market right under the sign is known for "flying fish". The crew there has a work philosophy of having fun while serving their customers. They tell jokes and they throw the fish choosen by a buyer to the fellow crew member behind the counter. People stand two or three rows thick watching them work and entertain the crowd.

Mom and Kari having a great time at the Market!

Have a Wonder Tuesday!

Aunt Butchie's Birthday BBQ

Yesterday we spend some of the day at a BBQ at Ruth and Steve's to celebrate Aunt Butchie's Birthday. Her birthday will be on Wednesday this week so we wanted to pay tribute to her turning 75 this year.
Dave and Steve BBQing!
Happy Birthday Aunt Butchie!

This past weekend, Saturday morning I also took Riley and Brady to see the Kung Fu Panda movie. It was really fun for them and the story had a good message too.

Then for "Date Night", Dave and I went to see the new "Get Smart" movie that is taken from the 1960's TV show. It was very funny and entertaining. If you get the chance, go see this movie to get out of the heat (using "their" AC).

While mom and Ron were here, we went out for a "dinner and a show". We ate at Panera Bread and saw the Incredible Hulk movie. This movie was, in my opinion, OK... Of course, taken from another TV show from the late 70's so I knew the plot but they have added more with computers etc. It is amazing what they can do to make a "Hulk" these days. Lou Ferrigno who played the Hulk in the television version was also in the movie. He played the voice of the HULK and a security guard. It was funny to suddenly see him in the movie. I know the kids today didn't know who he was... only those of us that were watching TV back then.

Yep... three movies in the past week. Usually it is about three movies within three months. But, hey, we have been on vacation ;-)

Have a good day! It is back to work today for me!

Sunday

Today is Sunday. I will be off with my family to church and a BBQ for Aunt Butchie (her name is really Etta). My folks (mom and Ron) are on their way back to So. California today. We understand it has been hot there. It has be warm here but mild... and no rain (which is a switch). They will wish they were back here :-)

Have a great day!
