Saturdays...

Saturdays are my favorite. I am not expected to be anywhere really... unless I choose. After following a calendar all week, it is a treat not to use one. It is the middle of February, and one of the best things about that time of year in Seattle is that I can tell that the days are getting lighter earlier and staying lighter longer. There is a big difference between now and at what it was like at Christmas. January is so cold and dark too. But February starts to show promise of Spring up ahead.

Yikes...

Dave is being called to North Carolina to work next week. He will flying into the blue on Sunday and be gone for a week... coming back on Monday the 25th of February. He hasn't had to go on a business trip for a long time so I guess one is due. They were thinking of sending him right before Christmas this year on a trip but it fell through, thank goodness. I guess now wouldn't be too bad. I can't have it my way every time. You see, I don't like it went he leaves on business trips. It isn't that I can't do things on my own... I am ok with that... but I like everyone home safe and sound.

Dave is originally from Kansas, so on his way home, he is going to Kansas for a couple of day to see his father and his family. It has been over 4 years since we went there to visit. Riley wasn't even born yet. So it will great that he can go there and see his family. I know I miss my family a lot in California... and I saw them just last year.

Today I took care of Brady while Kari went to class. I then went to the consortium meeting (our college belongs to a consortium). I was secretary last year and I have been voted in for this year again too. We had our meeting and then I went back to the college to get things done.

I am praying about a change in jobs... there is a position that has been posted that I am interested in putting in an application. If you are a praying lady... please pray to for guidance for me to do what I should. If it was just me I would still ask for guidance, but my family plus Kari and the boys depend on me so I especially need holy intervention.
I am watching the Celine Dion Special on TV while I am writing this post. I have been getting up to watch certain parts. Josh Groban and Celine sang a song together that brought me to tears.
Anyway... whew... I am glad that this week is over too. I have been feeling this way about "weeks" for a while. They have been challenging with kids being ill, taxes to file, work to do... the list goes on and on. I keep thinking I can get back to a place in my life that things aren't so hectic. I realize many people feel the way I do these days too. It is no wonder that people are leaning towards making their lives more "simple". I believe I am one of those that is desiring simplicity. I think I will end this post now, go put my feet up, and enjoy the rest of the TV special. Good Night. Hugs.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

As I wrote the title today I once again felt the surprise that time is passing too fast again. It was just Christmas, right?

It was a good day. A coworker and I went on the reservation and went to the tribal school to give a presentation to the students there. It was a small group but it was a good start. My coworker is a Native American so she was able to give them a message that related to their culture.

At lunch I went to buy more for my Valentines... I got Dave a shirt but I added his favorite beer to the package.

Riley and I filled out his Valentine's to give to his friends last night. He was thrilled to go to class to give them away. What he didn't know is that some of his classmates had Valentines to give him... and candy too. He wasn't really thinking it would work that way so it was a nice surprise. He has been carrying his little bag of goodies and Valentines around all evening. Dave got him a little car too... so he is thinking this is a good holiday.

Brady is still ill. Kari is caring for him. I guess his nose and eyes are running but he is still active. He was less active the other day. I don't know what tomorrow will hold with caring for Brady and going to work. Kari missed part of her work day but there wasn't many people coming into Red Robin in the middle of the day. Guess we will have to see.

Dave and Aaron was already at his mom's house to visit her tonight before I ever got off work at 5 pm. They went there to spend time with her. Riley and I went to the nearby restaurant where I know they have a dish that Riley will eat. He ate until he was full and was talking about how he wanted to go home, watch TV on the bed before going to bed. He was serious when he also decided to tell me about "love". He told me his heart is in his tummy and that it beats hard when you love someone. And you kiss a lot, he said. I listened and would say "Oh... is that how it works?" He was very happy to be so informative about the subject. At home he put 3 letters on paper... ones that he knows; R L H... and he told me that it says "I Love You". He is totally in the spirit of Valentine's Day.

Have a great evening.

Brady Not Feeling Well

Brady isn't feeling well so I won't be going to church tonight. We will stay in and watch American Idol instead.

I was at a high school college fair for most of the day. I was able to get to the store and purchase some Valentine Day goodies.

Have a great day!

Valentine's Dinner With My Sweetie

We had a great time at The Cheesecake Factory. I choose a Shephard Pie. The description off the menu is:
SHEPHERD'S PIE Ground Beef, Mushrooms, Carrots, Peas, Zucchini and Onions in a Delicious Sauce Covered with Mashed Potatoes and Parmesan Cheese

Did I have a piece of cheesecake? We ordered 1 piece. My choice was a chocolate piece which was good. What I did was split it with Dave. But we were full so we brought the rest home. Since we both can't have much of something like that we shared the rest with Aaron and Riley. So one piece cut four ways went far.

Hugs

Catching Up

I did little research today to show you various topics I have been talking about the past few days. PLU is an university in Tacoma/Parkland area I went to on last Friday, Lake Wilderness is where we threw pinecones into the water on Saturday, Gary Morse is the prophet from the Austin TX area, and Faith and Victory Church is were I was the last three days to hear Gary minister.

  1. Pacific Lutheran University... you can find out information about it HERE.

  2. Lake Wilderness Park... you can find out about it HERE.

  3. Gary Morse... you can find out about his ministry HERE.

  4. Faith and Victory Church... you can see their website HERE

Today I had Riley to transport to school but Brady was with Kari because they had an appointment with the school district to assess Brady's need for Special Education. After two hours, they accepted Brady into the program. He will get picked up from his daycare to go to the program at one of the elementary schools and be brought back again. We wanted Riley to go into this program last year but the person in charge didn't approve Riley. However, the school district staff is going to reassess Riley. They feel now that maybe some things were overlooked. On one hand it is hard to hear that your children have special needs but on the other one has to put those feelings aside and do the best thing for the child. In the long run, it is possible that because of getting help as early as possible they may not have the frustrations in school and in life that Kari or other family members have had to endure.

I spent the rest of day at my desk trying to catch up from when I am out away from the college recruiting and doing other things. I like be out and doing the things I do but I also like being on the campus. It is a treat to do the other if I have many days doing one thing. Does that make sense? I guess what I mean is that I like the variety.

Aaron isn't feeling well now. He seems to have a cold but doesn't seem to be running much of a fever. Hopefully he can throw it. He likes to take Airborne. Kari tried it when she was ill and she thought it really helped. So there are two endorsements.

Kari is working hard in her marketing class. She called me tonight reading to me what she wrote for a presentation. It is good to hear her be excited about something that she is really good at doing.

Valentine's Day is this week. Dave doesn't want to go out on the evening everyone else is going out... meaning on Thursday. I am OK with not going out exactly on the day... I would like to hit it somewhere within the week though, and prior to the holiday (afterwards it seems not as festive). So we are going out tomorrow night. I have chosen to try a new restaurant in the Southcenter mall area. It is a Cheesecake Factory (I wonder how many points this could add up to? I better start to think up how to get around big point items on the menu.) They don't have a picture of the new restaurant that I want to try out but here is the one in downtown Seattle across from the convention center.

Well, I will sign off now. Everyone in the family is already in bed and asleep at 9:30pm. I better get there too. Have a great Tuesday... Hugs. Good Night!

Fool's Gold

Still catching up by using my blackberry. As I said in the last few quick posts I will get a few reference websites to show you. But now I will place them together on the same future post when Aaron isn't needing the commuter for a homework assignment.

This morning I went to church at Susie's church named Faith and Victory. (I think they have a website too. I will put that on my list of things to show you.) I spent another 3 hours listening to a minister from Austin TX (who claimed we talked funny) give prophetic words to the people at the church. It was very interesting to me. It must have been because I spent over 8 hours this weekend listening to Gary Morse. I also got to meet some people and I am believe I will be attending the church as a regular along with my daughter. Dave has been there before too. We were there on Christmas Eve. There is a woman's fellowship next weekend which I will try to attend.

Dave and I also went to the movies to see Fool's Gold. It was cute. I would say just OK but a fun movie.

Tonight I helped get my receipts from 2007 in order which I saved for a total of sales tax spent. It came to about $400. I think it is an interesting excerise to see what I bought thoughtout the year and also where I could curb some spending.

I am ready to go to sleep after a long weekend. Hugs.
