The Easter Egg Hunt!

This morning Kari brought over the boys and we all (Dave, Riley, Brady, and I) went to meet Renee, her mom, her son, Ruthie, and Annabelle at the college for Kids Day. There were activities for them to do and an Easter Egg hunt. Riley and Brady were both out there picking up eggs and having fun. I took some pictures which I will post later. They also had the
Easter Bunny their the wave and take pictures with the kids. Kari came later because she discovered she didn't have to work today after all.

After that event we went to get Riley's haircut at the Depot Barbershop. I wrote about that barbershop the last time Riley got a haircut. It is like going back into time. Even the music they play is from the 60s - 70s. No wonder I like it there.

Then we went to lunch at MOM's, a local restaurant the we have been going to for years. The boys were ready for lunch after all that activity! I was ready for a nap... but not the boys.

Kari got the two baskets that I put together for the boys so that they will have them when they wake up in the morning. Riley saw us carrying them in a big box. I explained that the E.B. was so busy this year that he dropped them off early but we (Kari and I) promised him that we wouldn't give it to them before Easter Sunday. I know... I was trying (key word... "trying") to think fast. Riley seemed OK with the answer. Whew...

Kari and I were talking about where the idea of bunnies and eggs came from when it is all about Christ being Risen. I explained that it was about fertility and spring. Many of the cultures that can to the Unitied States have some vision of the same ideas with eggs etc. The Greeks I read dye their eggs red to symbolize new birth and Christ's blood sled for our sins. (That's a great idea I thought).
Have a wonderful Easter Day with your friends and family... He has RISEN!
Hugs to all

Happy Birthday Renee!!!

Today was "Spring Tour". An event that our college hosts each spring for local junior and senior high school students. We have about 26 different college representatives in different rooms for 4 sessions. The students choose which session they would like to attend to hear about the college they may be interested in learning more and getting information.

Also, it is Renee's birthday today. I gave her present to her at the beginning of the week because I knew I would be busy today running around. Fortunately, we were able to go to lunch with her to celebrate after the event.

We went to see College Road Trip at the movies in the evening. Not like I don't see enough about "colleges"... but it was the only thing that was available to see that was a comedy. I thought we might be able to see 27 Dresses but it isn't available in the theaters any longer... it will be out in DVD soon, I guess. I wanted a comedy because I didn't want to get into any heavy storylines with war or the killing of the president etc... I just wanted to have fun and laugh.

Have a good day... HUGS

Happy Spring!!!

Happy Spring!!!

Finally! Whew! I thought Spring would never get here! When I was driving yesterday to and from Seattle, I couldn't help but take notice of the pink or white blossoms in the trees, the yellow scotch broom, and the daffodils. The trees are getting little green leaves making some of the trees have a greenish "glow" because of the new growth. We are so known for tulips as well (probably like many other places). The tulip fields we visit to see in April are in the Skagit Valley, WA for the Tulip Festival (check it out). The fields of tulips of different colors are so brilliant that it hurts a person's eyes.

City of Seattle

Yesterday, I went to Seattle for an event for the employees of the City of Seattle. I took a these pictures below while I was there to share on today's post and also to add some other to next Sunday Snapshots.

PIONEER SQUARE PARK & PERGOLA
Pioneer Square boasts the country’s largest concentration of Victorian-Romanesque architecture. At Pioneer Square Park, Seattle’s first permanent settlement, historic elements include the totem pole from the Tlingit American Indian village (1890), the Pioneer Building, constructed just after the Great Fire of 1889, and the Pergola (1905), designed to shelter passengers waiting for the cablecar that used to travel along Yesler Way.

SMITH TOWER
Standing 522 feet high, with 42 stories, the Smith Tower was the tallest building in the world outside Manhattan when it opened on July 4, 1914. Built by Cornelius Smith – a gun and typewriter tycoon whose initials still adorn the door handles – it was one of several box-like shape buildings being constructed at the time.

Safeco Field
I spent many nights in the summer at Dodgers stadium... here the Mariner's have Safeco Field to play their baseball home games. When I arrived they use to play in the Kingdome, which was taken down and Safeco Field was built. It was strange seeing a baseball came in a "dome"... no grass, no night evenings... very strange. The Safeco Field is built so it is outside but the cover can close if there is rain.Qwest Field

Next door to the north of Safeco Field is Qwest Field where the Seahawks make their home/ nest.

Riley is ready for school and wants to show you his new...

Book bag

I promised that I would show you by putting the picture on the post. He will love to see this.
Have a good day... HUGS

City of Seattle Event

Seattle - Space Needle

Well, today I have a City of Seattle event with the consortium. This requires making it in traffic to Seattle, finding a parking spot, and then draging all my stuff wherever the event is located... which I have not been before today. That is always fun (not). I will take my camera with me and take some photos to share with you on the next post. Wish me the best ladies! This picture is most likely from the Queen Anne Hill in Seattle. Later... Hugs

AMEN!

I didn't have an event today so I was at the college all day. I felt a little in the fog all day. I went home for lunch and then went back, taking my time as I went. Finally the day ended. I felt really tired for some reason. I will not blame it on a week old time change... how about Spring Fever. It is almost Spring. Technology it arrives for us on Thursday. Tomorrow is the last and finally day of Winter. Can I hear an AMEN! HUGS

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Just a quick "catch up" post and to wish you a "lucky" day. I am taking Irish soda bread to work with me today for a treat for everyone. I have Irish in my heritage on my dad's side. My grandmother was full Irish, although she never saw Ireland. ;-) Please see the photos from the weekend on my Sunday post. HUGS
