What Weekend?

Punxsutawney Phil is our new family gag gift

That had to be the shortest weekend I have ever lived! There was so much activity that it went by in a blur. Luckily I have today off because of these summer fairs and time etc. We, Kae and I, worked on Saturday afternoon and evening. By the time we got there Phillip and Tim had given out all the fans to those at the street fair. So all day Friday and part of Saturday they gave away 500 fans. We finished giving out what other give aways we had there, so that meant going back to the college and getting more to supply the booth for the Sunday shifts.

Dave and I went to the college and picked up what we needed, plus 500 more fans. Then we delivered all of it to the booth. That isn't easy because we have to use a dolly to wheel the boxes into the fair. Those that were working the first shift were happy to see me with more supplies. I understand though there the fans were all depleted again by 2 pm. Granted these past couple days have been warm... but WoW. I heard from people that I know that there were more in attendance this year than there ever has been in the past. That might explain why we kept running out of give aways.

Church was great yesterday. The message was about "Leaving the Past Behind". The pastor spoke on sins of the past and forgiveness. We actually wrote our names on a slip of paper or a sin we have a problem forgiving ourselves for (but God has forgiven) and nailed it to a wooden cross. Everyone had a slip and it took a while for everyone to nail their slip of paper to the cross. I closed my eyes and could here the pounding of the nails... which was very powerful. When it was my turn, all my time in wood shop classes in at the high school when I worked in Special Education came in handy. I NAILED it and the man standing there said "good job". I guess it looked like I meant business, and I did. I could have probably covered the whole cross myself with slips of paper with only one sin on each slip so when I wrote on my one slip I came up with a word that is what I considered the root to all of the sins I have ever committed.

We went to lunch with Kari and the boys. It is a nice thing to eat together on a Sunday.

Aaron has been gone this past weekend. He was in Long Beach, WA with his friends. Oh... I have something to share about Aaron... he has a girlfriend now. She is his first girlfriend. He is walking on air. Between Aaron being "in love" and Dave having a son "in love"; well, it has been very entertaining around here. We can see Aaron's "My Space" and it is all about "Love". Now if Dave had a My Space his mood would be nervous. It is hard to be a dad "letting go" of your only son. I know it was hard for me to "let go" of Kari at his age. You want to much for them and you only hope and pray that they make good choices.

We took Brady with us Sunday evening to Steve and Ruth's for the BBQ. It was for Amy and her kids, Maddy and Harrison. In Northwestern tradition, we had Coho Salmon for dinner. Now if you are a true Washingtonian you love salmon for dinner AND you know the difference between the different salmons such as Coho or King etc. I like salmon now more than I did. It is growing on me. I hate it when there is skin still on the fish or if I have to pick out too many small bones. But yesterdays dinner was very nice.
I am glad that I get another day to complete my weekend. I will try to take it slow.
