Sunday was a successful day. Dave and I started out Christmas shopping by stopping at Starbucks... him for a latte and I for my zen green tea. It was nice because we could quietly go through the Sunday ads. We went to Barnes and Noble to buy some books that were on some Christmas lists then went on to Body Works.

We got home around 4 pm and I had time to get Riley downtown to see Santa. The photo above is the little house they built him to hear little girl's and boy's requests for Christmas. We waited for about 30 minutes before Riley was able to go into the little house. Riley was in awe... slowly answering any questions asked of him. You would have thought Santa was a movie star. Santa gave Riley the "naughty or nice" test. He touched the tip of Riley's nose and there was a squeek much like a dog's toy. Santa laughed and told Riley that he was "squeeky clean" meaning that he was good. Riley told him he wanted Thomas the Train Engine and tracks. Santa gave him a candy cane and said he would be at our house on Christmas Eve and added that he would like milk and cookies... and a few carrots for the reindeer. Riley promised that we would do just that. Smiling at his successful visit with Santa he left holding the candy cane that Santa gave him proudly.
We walked over to the Cow Chips store where he purchased with some money I handed him some small cookies to celebrate the occasion. It isn't every day that one visits with Santa (and believes they did). I didn't take Brady because he would have never stood for the waiting or seeing Santa and would have ruined it for Riley. He will be 3 in February and he will not be so fussy next year.
It will be a very easy week. I go to work for two days and have 7 days in a row off. I return for 3 while most people are gone... and then have 4 days off. I have lots of plans for getting things done during that time.
BTW... Happy Birthday Susie! She has been a friend, a best friend, to me for 12 years (if I am counting them correctly). We were both career counselors at high schools in the same district once upon a time. She moved on to the community college scene and I followed her. Today she works doing what I do at the University of Washington, Tacoma. I probably will follow her someday but for this moment in time I am truely dedicated to my job and my co-workers.
I wish you a great day and a wonderful week.

Hi Danna, I haven't taken Kristen to see Santa this year - she hasn't even asked! I think this time next year she won't even believe, sad to say, but she's 7 now and kids start to talk and tell her things :-( She hasn't questioned it too much this year, but I don't think it will last.
Hope you're having a lovely day.
Hugs Denise
Hi Danna! Enjoyed seeing all your family photos. You will have to get back to SoCal and take the kids to see MM at Disneyland. :) It's so magical when little ones believe in Santa. Love how you described Riley's awe over meeting him. Santa's way better than a movie star! ;) Have a great week- lots of time off! Yay! Enjoy!
