Today I had to go have an eye exam. It has almost been three years since I last went to have an eye exam. But since Brady grabbed my glasses and broke the frames the other day, who needs a sign to know that an eye exam is in order. Mostly they are fun... like playing a game. But then it gets hard when I am trying to pick between "#1 or #2". You know what I mean? I feel like if I pick wrong I will fail and get some glasses that I am stuck with for two years. There is the puff of air in both eyes and also the drops that dilates your eyes and causes everything to look strange for hours afterwards. All and all, as far as exams go, this one isn't too bad.
I then went downstairs to pick out my glasses... not knowing what is the "cute" factor these days. So I had this younger woman that works there help me out. She claimed that I could wear many styles but I don't know... I guess so. I finished choosing some frames faster than I thought I would and I am actually looking forward to getting them next week. I don't know if they have the "cute" factor but when I think about the glasses over the years that I have worn (like the big ones in the 80's), I couldn't have done that bad at choosing something that memorable.
I decided to try to make my version of Julie's Rissoles. So I went to the store and bought all the ingredients to bring home. To me, the Rissoles I made seemed like a cross between a hamburger patty and meat loaf. I added onion, carrots, and green pepper. I created the balls and rolled them in bread crumbs. I think they tasted great and so did my family. They think it is a new taste sensation! And I think it tastes great with ketchup too! (I hope that comment didn't offend anyone from Australia. That was a compliment.)
Have a great Tuesday!

How about that, you made Aussie Rissoles woohoo, I'm honoured (yes sorry, that is how we spell honoured down here). I meant to add that ketchup or (tomato sauce as we call it) is a must on rissoles. If you have any left over, they are really good sliced up on a sandwich hot or cold, with sauce the next day. My mum used to make the rissole mixture go further by adding some cooked rice or even fresh bread crumbs. She always considered them a budget beater type recipe, but we didn't care, we loved them and my kids still do. Even my married daughter considers rissoles comfort food from when she lived at home.
I'm keen to see what frames you picked out. I wish I'd known as I got mine on-line and they were half the price. What I did was go have my eyes checked,I tried on lots of different frames (took my daughter with me so she could tell me what was cool and suited me). I picked out two pairs and ordered them, but came home jumped on-line and found them for half the price of the fancy store, so I cancelled my order at the store. The on-line ones have been absolutely fine, no different to the ones in the store, and I'd do it that way. So, if you have the model number of the glasses you've ordered, I would suggest you Google the brand and model number, and see if you can find them cheaper on-line. You are not obliged to buy your glasses from where you get your eye exam. It's perfectly acceptable to just get the test done and leave with your script, so if you find some much cheaper, just cancell your order. You'd need to do it ASAP though so they don't start making up your glasses. You'll probably find they will have to order in your frames anyway, so it's unlikely they would have started. I even paid for my glasses using my Paypal account which was darn handy too.
Hi Danna, You rissoles look great. I have never heard of them, & now want to try them.
I was reading your prior post, & it is wonderful (& amazing), how we can connect with people from all over the world. I have met some very dear friends. I have met Susan (Susan's Garden of Friendship) in person - twice. Darylynn's is one of the first blogs I read too, but took forever before I left a tag. Anyway....so glad you are here in blogland & that I can get to know you. Have a blessed week. Big hugs!
Hi Danna! That's so sweet what you said about finding my blog. I always say it's a blog about nothing like Seinfeld so I think anyone realizes they can blog, too, and make connections around the world.
Styles of glasses change so often. Recently the nerdy look has been in. I need superlight weight ones so I'm limited in choices but I never wear them anyway.
(((Hugz)))
Hi Danna, The Rissoles sounds good. My husband likes canned mix veggies in his. I would top it wit grated cheese. I work right next to Costa Mesa so maybe we can meet for lunch close by. I could work from 6-10/11 and take a few hours off. I am right behind Calvary Chapel CM. I need to get new glassed too. I was going to get some, but I am going away for the weekend and I need my spending money. :) I hope we can meet. Hugs
