This kind of frost... Yep, it has arrived
I scraped frost off my windows yesterday morning. It was the first time this fall. I had to go into the garage to find the ice scraper from it's summer hiding place. Luckily, I did.
I did a presentation at Tahoma HS yesterday morning and was given a Starbucks gift card as a "Thank You". I love the idea of getting a latte on a cold day when out and about doing Outreach. It is very popular to get a Starbucks gift card around here. (Go figure) I like Starbucks but I am still not completely a "Washingtonian" that way... needing coffee every morning. I prefer tea more than coffee. (Shhhhh, don't tell) My husband is a coffee drinker but is happy with the coffee made at home, MOST of the time. On weekends he can't wait to go to Starbucks and read the paper. It is a good way to get out of the house.
Last night, I had an event at Kentwood HS. When it was over, it was raining outside rather hard. For some reason I wasn't any more prepared for that type of rain than I was for the frost we had that morning. So twice the elements outside has tricked me. It is a reminder to me that I need to start thinking "fall and winter" rather than "summer". It also reminds me that I haven't totally given up the idea of "summer" and am still mourning the idea that winter weather is closer than I want it to be on the calendar. October has warm days and beautiful autumn color here. But October can also have days that can chill you and make you a believer that winter is near.
I also got my flu shot yesterday. I never have problems with the flu shots... I get a sore arm and I felt a little tired after I had it but I felt fine for the event at Kentwood at 7 pm. I go into so many schools and see so many students and community members, it is important for me to get the flu shot in October.
Yesterday between events, I bought the boys their Halloween costumes. Riley was picking his out of a magazine... first it was a "pirate" and then "Ninga Turtles". He wanted those picks because they both have a sword as part of the costume. That is a BAD idea for Riley to have anything like a sword. So I bought them both Transformer characters. "Bumblebee" for Riley and "Optimus Prime" for Brady. I know that you many not be up on your Transformer characters; but they are the good and most popular robots. I think. I know Bumblebee is good. Anyway, they will be excited to have their costumes and be ready for the Halloween train which we will go ride on the weekend of the 25-26.
Both things: getting a flu shot and getting the kids ready for Halloween is another reminder of autumn is here in all it's glory. Oh, and Happy Birthday to Kae Hamilton who works in our office.

Ciao Danna, it's chilly here in Scotland to. I am a wee bit envious coz in Trieste (the city in Italy where I lived b4 moving here) temps are around 20°C (68F) while here we only have 10°C, brrrrrrrrrrr. Have a happy day, cheers!
Hi Danna, I 'love' Starbucks! Pumpkin Spice Latte for me, during these fall/winter months (even though it is 80 today). We have an industrial coffee machine though (from Italy)...guess that is what it would be called...all I know is that Mike paid a FORTUNE for it, & I told him that at that price, the coffee had better walk to me! It's incredible though - so I make my own 'Starbucks' at home - flavor syrups & all. I need to blog about that!
I've never had a flu shot. My hubby used to get them, but he got really sick each time he did.
Glad the Halloween outfits are picked out. That can be a job! Sending you big hugs!
Hi Danna! It's 90 today and will be 85 for the party on Saturday and it will be outdoors in the pool area of the backyard so, yes, sandals are still in order here. ;) Wearing a sundress, too. Way to rub it in on a post titled Frost. ;) Actually, I know not everyone appreciates the summer weather like I do.
The transformers costumes will be cute. I'm not a fan of costumes with weapons or masks. I prefer face paint- it's safer. Costumes are so much nicer than the silly dime store tie-on ones we had when we were kids!
