What A Big "Bang" It Was

Fireworks from the Cul-de-Sac

Taken above our head at our house!
All around us, 360 degrees, we had fireworks going off about us. In Washington, where there has been plenty of water this year, the neighborhoods have their own displays. Me, being from California, where a match could land you in jail, looks onto these displays in disbelief and amazement... and I have been here for 15 years (my Washingtonian birthday was on July 2nd)! What is even more of an amazement is what takes place on the reservations were they sale tons of fireworks... if you are up there on the reservation it looks like you've entered a war zone! Fireworks flying into trees etc. The first year I was here, my apartment was located on the reservation and I stood at my window looking out at the display with my mouth dropped to the floor. All I could think of was "These people are crazy!" I still think that when it comes to the 4th of July. They know how to C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-E!

There's now sort of a Dueling Fireworks "thing" going on with the guys in the Cul-de-Sac to the north of our house and the neighbors in the "T" in the road to the south of our house. We sat in lounge chairs watching it for most of the night as if it was a tennis match. We did do our "own thing" early in the evening. We had a BBQ of hamburgers, potato salad, watermelon, and chips. We also went to a parade in Enumclaw and we set off our "little" packs of fireworks we bought the kids.

Hi Danna! Warzone is exactly how I described what it was like on Justin's street last night! I'd never seen anything like that before either! Thru the smoke, the firetruck drove by and we all stood and waved as they weaved around all the impromptu firework stands in the middle of the street! Police cars, too, and they just ignored it all. People had these handheld wands that sent out rockets into the sky. That seemed so dangerous to me. I'm sure you've seen that up there. I think they go to Mexico to get this stuff. Crazy! I can imagine what it must be like on an Indian reservation! Glad you survived it all and the kids look none the worse for wear! ;) Enjoy the holiday weekend!

The picture of the boys sure reminds me of my boys when they were little. We had a bbq but went to bed early. Over all it was a nice 4th. Hugs
